fantastic project of reconstruction of the monastery of the 12 century made in 1992 by Pritzker Prize winner Eduardo Soutto de Moura. Looks fresh and stylish even now, it is smart, elegant, and impressive. Just come here for dinner in a hall of the monastery that looks like a blast furnace. The breakfast is picturesque and worth being a story or even Instagram post. The air conditioning in the rooms is like a piece of art -- tubes onto the wooden honey color box which is a bathroom and at the same moment the headboard of your bed! The room floor is wooden. and the floorboard width is exquisite. Different levels of stone floors in public areas are connected by three steps red marble staircase. Green doors. Chinese ink paintings. Stainless steel room doors. Wicked armchairs. Leather armchairs next to the stone fireplaces. Embroidered hotel logo. Art. Rotating transparent doors leading to the cloisters. Even coffee tables in rooms, even balcony door locks, even coat hangers -- all are absolutely unique and made for measure. Absolutely rare, precious project. Thank you Pestana com for keeping it untouched.

It was the first time we stayed at a heritage location and it was such a wonderful experience. The Pousada is easy to find but required a bit of a drive as we traveled from Lisbon. The Pousada was well-maintained and most things in the rooms were working except the blinds in one of the rooms and the key to the main door of the other room (it was nothing significant for us as the hotel team had taken care of quickly once we told the front desk). We love the walk within the building as well as around the compound. There were lots of common spaces (around the fireplace and the games area) for us to gather. The team was amazing - the Front Desk was efficient and professional plus the Bar & dining crew were attentive and friendly. Wish we had more time in this Pousada. Will be there when I next visit Portugal and will recommend it to all my friends.

The property is a hidden gem, tucked away in what can only be described as a piece of history. Absolutely stunning interiors-unique but tasteful. The staff were fabulous and welcoming in all areas of the hotel and you can tell they are very passionate about the property. I would note that this is not the place to go for nightlife, it’s for those wishing to relax and unwind and appreciate nature and the beautiful surroundings. Get out in the car and explore the wonderful scenery on offer and you will not be disappointed. Well done to all.

The hotel is in a great location, a short drive from both Gerês and the neighbouring town of Amares. The staff was very welcoming and helpfull throughout our whole stay, we were even surprised with a gift for my partners' birthday, which made everything feel even more special. The athmosphere was great, always calm and relaxing and the facilities were great as well, specially the pool, in which we spent a good amount of time in the sun. The overall experience was great and we probably will return.

What a superb place. I have stayed in a number of Pousadas and this was up there with the best. Wonderful old building tastefully modernised and extremely comfortable. Great room, great view and delicious food at breakfast and dinner. The staff were attentive and helpful and did everything to make our stay special including a surprise anniversary cake.
